Merging cutting-edge 3D printing technology with the timeless allure of 18-karat yellow gold, this collection showcases how craftsmanship and science can coexist in breathtaking harmony.
A Fusion of Sand and Gold
At the heart of this capsule lies a bold material experiment, black sand transformed through 3D printing. Using a binder-jetting technique borrowed from the aeronautics and automotive industries, fine grains of sand are bound together layer by layer with a polymer binder, each layer thinner than a millimeter. The result is a dense, durable structure that retains the natural grain of sand yet possesses exceptional strength.
These textured sand elements are then mounted onto gleaming yellow-gold frameworks, creating a striking visual and tactile contrast. Boucheron polishes the inner surfaces to perfection, brushes the outer edges to enhance light play, and applies a protective coating to preserve the deep black tone of the sand.

The Quatre Sand collection is part of Boucheron’s annual Innovation Capsule series, led by Creative Director Claire Choisne, who has consistently reimagined what luxury jewelry can be. Past experiments have included unexpected materials like denim (2020), holographic coatings (2021), Cofalit® (2022), aluminium (2023), and memory glass (2024).
With Quatre Sand, Choisne pushes boundaries once more, turning a humble material like sand into a precious art form through technology and imagination.
A Bold, Graphic Design Language
The capsule includes seven exclusive pieces: one statement cuff and two bracelets combining black sand with gold in the iconic Clou de Paris motif, alongside four brushed-gold bangles designed for stacking. The collection’s clean, architectural lines represent a new evolution of Boucheron’s iconic Quatre design.
The choice of black sand was intentional: to create radical contrast with gold’s warm luminosity, reflecting the duality between raw nature and refined artistry.
Tradition Meets Technology
Though innovative, this isn’t Boucheron’s first encounter with sand. The maison previously explored it in collections such as Bleu de Jodhpur (2015), using sand from India’s Thar Desert, and Or Bleu (2024), inspired by Icelandic waters. However, Quatre Sand marks a leap forward by integrating sand into crisp, precise geometries once thought impossible.
