World Diamond Day 2026 is officially on the calendar. On April 8, 2026, the Natural Diamond Council (NDC) will launch the first-ever global celebration dedicated entirely to natural diamonds, inviting everyone from mine workers and master craftspeople to retailers, designers, students, and everyday jewellery lovers to join a single worldwide conversation.
What Is World Diamond Day 2026?
The Natural Diamond Council, the body that represents the world’s leading diamond producers and promotes natural diamonds globally, announced World Diamond Day as a new annual occasion to be observed on April 8 each year. The inaugural edition takes place on Tuesday, April 8, 2026.
The NDC describes the initiative not as a campaign but as an open, participation-driven platform. In the council’s own words, it is “shaped by the people who participate – from personal milestones to communities, diamonds uplift and transform.” In other words, the day belongs to the industry and its community, not to any single brand or organisation.
Why April 8?
The date carries layered symbolism. April’s birthstone is the diamond, making it the natural home for such a celebration. The number eight, meanwhile, is widely recognised across cultures as a symbol of infinity, balance, and lasting prosperity. Together, they make April 8 a date the entire industry can rally around year after year.
How to Participate in World Diamond Day
Participation is intentionally simple and open to all. Here is how you can take part:
- Choose Your Story: Pick a moment that means something to you. It could be an engagement ring, an heirloom piece, a diamond you studied in class, or a behind-the-scenes look at craftsmanship and design, anything that captures what natural diamonds represent to you personally.
- Create Your Content: Take a photograph or record a short video. The format is flexible, a close-up of a stone, a portrait with a treasured piece, a time-lapse of jewellery making, or a simple heartfelt message to the camera, all work equally well.
- Post on Social Media: Share your content on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), or any platform you use. Use the official hashtags to ensure your post becomes part of the global conversation.
Official hashtags to use on all your posts: #WorldDiamondDay #NaturalDiamonds
What Stories Can You Share?
The NDC has outlined a wide range of content themes to inspire participation.
- Personal milestones like engagements, anniversaries, milestone gifts, and the emotions behind them.
- Heirloom jewellery pieces passed down through generations, and the memories they carry.
- The diamond journey from rough stone at the mine to the finished, polished gem in a showcase.
- Craftsmanship & design — the process of creating fine jewellery, from sketch to setting.
- Community impact: How the diamond industry supports livelihoods, education, and conservation in producing regions.
Businesses are also encouraged to involve their internal teams, trade partners, and customers, turning a single post into an organisation-wide moment of visibility.
