Jewellers Association Bengaluru Welcomes Fresh Leadership for 2025–26

In a board meeting held on 4th September 2025, the Jewellers Association Bengaluru (JAB) announced its newly reshuffled leadership team for the 2025–26 term. Continuing his visionary leadership, Dr. Chetan Kumar Mehta has been re-elected as President.

About Dr. Chetan Kumar Mehta

A prominent figure in the Indian jewellery industry, Dr. Chetan Kumar Mehta is known for his strategic vision, deep industry knowledge, and relentless dedication to uplifting Bengaluru’s jewellery ecosystem. As the founder of Laxmi Diamonds and the driving force behind IIG South, Dr. Mehta brings a unique combination of entrepreneurial insight, educational advocacy, and community service.

Under his leadership, JAB has significantly expanded its industry outreach, modernized trade practices, and strengthened collaboration with national and international bodies. His continued presidency reflects the association’s confidence in his ability to lead Bengaluru’s jewellers into a new era of innovation and opportunity.

JAB: A Legacy of Leadership

Established in 1945, the Jewellers Association Bengaluru is one of South India’s oldest and most influential jewellery trade bodies. Today, it represents over 1,200 jewellers across Bengaluru, from traditional family-run businesses to large modern retail chains.

Core Roles & Responsibilities:

Trade Advocacy: Liaison between jewellers and government on hallmarking, taxation, and policy matters.

Event Leadership: Hosts impactful events like the Bengaluru Gold Festival and facilitates participation in national platforms like IIJS Tritiya.

Standardization: Promotes uniform gold pricing, hallmarking compliance, and fair trade practices.

Skill Development: Partners with institutions like IIG South to offer training in jewellery design, gemology, CAD, and retail strategy.

Dispute Resolution: Provides internal mediation and promotes ethical business practices.

Community Engagement: Leads philanthropic efforts, including scholarships, blood donation camps, and awareness campaigns.

Highlights from 2024–25: A Year of Strong Impact

1. Retailer Support at IIJS Tritiya 2024

JAB, under Dr. Mehta’s leadership, partnered with GJEPC to offer ₹500 off on online registration for Karnataka jewellers attending IIJS Tritiya and IGJME 2024.On February 19, 2024, JAB conducted a successful registration drive in Nagarathpet, engaging 393 jewellers, which resulted in significant footfall at the event.

2. IIJS Tritiya Roadshow & Knowledge Sharing

Held on 16 March 2024 at JW Marriott Bengaluru, the IIJS Roadshow drew a strong turnout.Featured session: “Coffee with Dr. Chetan Kumar Mehta”, where key insights on retail and industry trends were shared.The event also included e-commerce seminars featuring experts from Amazon and eBay.

3. Bengaluru Gold Festival 2024

The 3rd edition of the Bengaluru Gold Festival took place from 3rd October to 16th  November 2024, aligning with key festive dates.

4. Export-Focused Strategic Partnerships

During IIJS Tritiya, JAB signed an MoU with GJEPC to boost jewellery exports from Karnataka, with special emphasis on the upcoming Karnataka Jewellery Park project, seen as a major step toward infrastructure growth and global trade integration.
