About the Job:
Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and versatile Diamond Jewellery Manufacturing Specialist with expertise across multiple aspects of the production process, including wax modelling, diamond setting, machine filing, polishing, laser operations, and more. The ideal candidate will have experience in traditional craftsmanship and modern machinery, ensuring that each piece of jewellery is crafted to the highest standards. This position involves hands-on work and requires attention to detail, precision, and a deep understanding of diamond jewellery manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wax Modeling and Wax Setting:
- Create and shape wax models for diamond jewellery as per design specifications.
- Set diamonds in wax models for further casting, ensuring alignment and design accuracy.
- Grinding and Filing:
- Perform manual grinding and filing operations on jewellery pieces post-casting to refine shapes and edges.
- Machine filing techniques are used for precision and uniformity in jewellery components.
- Diamond Setting:
- Execute different diamond setting techniques, including prong, bezel, pave, and close setting, ensuring secure and aesthetically pleasing results.
- Work closely with other setters to achieve complex and intricate designs.
- Polishing and Finishing:
- Polish finished jewellery pieces to achieve the desired shine and smoothness, maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship.
- Operate polishing machinery such as EPAG machines to ensure consistent, high-quality finishes.
- Laser Operator and Stamping:
- Operate laser stamping machinery to engrave logos, identification marks, and other inscriptions on jewellery items.
- Ensure precision in laser engraving and stamping to meet design specifications and legal requirements.
- Rhodium Plating:
- Perform rhodium plating on white gold and platinum jewellery to enhance durability and shine.
- Ensure even application and high-quality finish in all plated items.
- Refinery and Metal Work:
- Handle basic metal refining processes to purify and prepare metals for jewellery production.
- Collaborate with refinery technicians to ensure optimal metal quality for casting.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with designers, wax setters, polishers, and other artisans to bring designs to life.
- Communicate effectively with the team to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of jewellery pieces.
- Laser and Machinery Maintenance:
- Maintain and troubleshoot laser machines and other equipment to ensure smooth operation and minimal downtime.
- Adhere to safety protocols when operating high-precision machinery.
Qualifications:
- Education: Certification or diploma in Jewellery Manufacturing, Goldsmithing, or related fields is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on experience in diamond jewellery manufacturing, including wax modelling, setting, and machine operations.
- Strong background in using modern machinery (e.g., laser operators, EPAG machines) as well as traditional handcrafting tools.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in wax modelling and wax setting techniques.
- Expertise in various diamond setting methods, particularly close setting.
- Experience in grinding, machine filing, and precision filing techniques.
- Knowledge of rhodium plating, polishing, and finishing processes.
- Ability to operate laser machinery for engraving and stamping.
- Familiarity with refinery processes and jewellery metalwork.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.
